Final Project Artist Comparison

My project deals with looking into the closets of some of my close friends. Pictures taken of my closet are also included. This is done in order to show the similarities and differences in a few girls’ closets. It is interesting to note how different a group of friends can be in the way that they shop and in their personal style choices.
As opposed to comparing my work to that of a director or filmmaker, I chose to reference fashion. In terms of comparing myself to an artist, I would compare myself to the actual J. Crew store overall. J. Crew is one of my favorite stores because it has good quality, high end clothing that is expensive but affordable. I think that the clothes shown in my closest are similar to those of J. Crew in the sense that I have some nice dresses, boots, and a lot of casual attire. I like the idea that J. Crew is classic and sophisticated, which I think describes my personal style.

What Boys Talk About When They Think No One is Listening

For this assignment, I attempted to capture a few of my friends talking after a night out.  I emphasized certain portions in order to illustrate their senses of humor and main topics of discussion.

Ideas for the Final Project

1.) Since my project is going to focus on the main topic of fashion at Syracuse, I think it would be interesting to examine the closest of various girls. I will most likely compare and contrast the items within my own closest to those of my friends as many of us have very different shopping patterns as well as styles. It will be interesting to see what items are common to all the closets as well as what items are completely unique.

2.) Since UGGs are such a popular item at Syracuse, I would like to see how many pairs different people have. It would be interesting to see which types are the most common and the ones are the most common.

3.) Since a lot of formals for different clubs and activities are coming up, I thought it would be interesting to see the types of formal wear that people have in their closets. I want to determine the styles that are popular this season as well the “classics” that people have had in their closets for a long time.
